Currently animating Wix for Dota 2. Once he is complete I plan to create SalazaR of the bizarre. He’s based on a Egyptian vulture with a lot of characterisation taking precedent over actual reference. HE’s going to be fun to animate!
Ideally Naughty Nilbog the Greevil Imposter will be coming soon to Dota 2! Small Keen – keen on delivering items 🙂
The courier creation continues 🙂
Goblin Sketch I painted up this year. I’d still like to paint it up a little more but I am pretty happy to see some progress with my painting.
I need to get more sketches posted on-line too.
Hey, I have been working on a new courier for Dota 2! OK, so I have also spent nearly 200 hours playing dota 2 also… playing or watching the world championships anyway 😉
So the idea is that I would push the polygon and texture limitations with this guy, and as it turns out my limited animation knowledge to boot.
To add further complexity I decided to do all the animation and modelling in Max as opposed to Maya, which Valve have been using and recommend people use for making new content.
After herculean effort I have gotten the pipeline nailed and I am now half way through the animation process. I have fleshed out basic moves for all the regular anim set and have seen them working in game. Next I have to get the model working for the flying version and then create further animations for those… which I might have to enlist some help for.. I guess we’ll see.
Any way, I am loving the Dota 2 game and art style and encourage others to get involved with the great opportunity to expand upon the game and add new content.
Value sketch I did while exploring perspective. I realised I need to push myself more to break the crutches that I use in my art. Too many little cheats and repeats 😉
Some sketches from the evenings this week. I started with the idea of a japanese troll catching a robot carpfish – the next evening sketched out a goblin merchant selling snake oil and finally got around to throwing down some lines to record my idea for the caterpillar from Alice in wonderland! the troll took 2hrs 30 and the other two are an hour or so.
