This guy still needs some work. He is the book wyrm, summoned from the book to do his masters bidding!?!?
So I refined my ideas for my new courier for dota 2. Its a goblin (keen) tinker/snake oil sales man. He’s a bit of a drunk, and has an animated staff which is goofy but keeps him in line.
Ok, a doodle, a dota 2 goblin courier. To be honest the approach I took is a little bit stale, so if I revisit the idea I will be changing things up more.
Goblin Sketch I painted up this year. I’d still like to paint it up a little more but I am pretty happy to see some progress with my painting.
I need to get more sketches posted on-line too.
I wanted to upload more of the sketches I have been doing this year and then over haul the site eventually!
Hey, I have been working on a new courier for Dota 2! OK, so I have also spent nearly 200 hours playing dota 2 also… playing or watching the world championships anyway
So the idea is that I would push the polygon and texture limitations with this guy, and as it turns out my limited animation knowledge to boot.
To add further complexity I decided to do all the animation and modelling in Max as opposed to Maya, which Valve have been using and recommend people use for making new content.
After herculean effort I have gotten the pipeline nailed and I am now half way through the animation process. I have fleshed out basic moves for all the regular anim set and have seen them working in game. Next I have to get the model working for the flying version and then create further animations for those… which I might have to enlist some help for.. I guess we’ll see.
Any way, I am loving the Dota 2 game and art style and encourage others to get involved with the great opportunity to expand upon the game and add new content.
Value sketch I did while exploring perspective. I realised I need to push myself more to break the crutches that I use in my art. Too many little cheats and repeats
My weekly sketch! I think I spent too much time on the value study before starting to paint with colour this time. Once I started painting colour I ended up making some significant changes which meant that a lot of the value work I did was throw away. Lessons learned, value should be rough and colour is when the actual painting begins.
Its an ogre with a goblin commander on his back. I might come back and finish it up a little more.
A sunday of painting led to the Emerald City. My Scarecrow is a little different infused with ww1 influences and a zombie like gait. Brain dead, but not by choice He really needs to find some brains!
Some sketches from the evenings this week. I started with the idea of a japanese troll catching a robot carpfish – the next evening sketched out a goblin merchant selling snake oil and finally got around to throwing down some lines to record my idea for the caterpillar from Alice in wonderland! the troll took 2hrs 30 and the other two are an hour or so.
Finally an update on Sagat highpoly model. Streetfighter………. yeah I still feel like I might need to make another character from the series once I finish Sagat.
more street fighter fan’ish work… its one nights work plus some clean up so far, looking forward to finishing up this version
Also an update on Ramm
